   Welcome to Center, ND...
Visit Center, a nice, quiet community located in the center of Oliver County, 40 miles northwest of Bismarck, ND. It is home to the Oliver County Courthouse, the Hazel Miner Memorial, a Museum, a Historical Society, and the newly erected monument to the Veterans of our Military.

The city of Center is unique in that it is the only incorporated city in Oliver County. Center has a population of approximately 678 residents. It has one school, K-12, home of the Center Wildcats. It is also home to an indoor Jr. Olympic size pool that is open year round, a grass greens golf course, and several parks with camping available.

Other areas of interest in Oliver County are the Cross Ranch State Park and Nelson Lake. Cross Ranch is located about 15 miles northeast of Center. Nelson Lake, located 5 miles southeast of Center, is the only lake in North Dakota that doesn't freeze in the winter due to the water being warmed by the nearby power plant. This plays a factor in many big bass being caught here.

Just to the southeast of Center are the BNI Coal Company and Minnkota Power Plant. Tours of these facilities are available, and it is very interesting to see the size of equipment that is used in the surface mine, along with where the coal is processed.
