There are 279 households and 196 families residing in the city.  One third of the households in Center have children under the age of 18.

Our town is somewhat notable for the 1920 blizzard related death of Hazel Miner, who would go on to be memorialized in our county's archives, by means of a memorial plaque in the city's courthouse courtyard and just recently as the namesake for our city's newest housing addition.

Center became the county seat for Oliver County on November 22, 1902.
